FREMONT, CA: Mine surveyors are under tremendous amount of pressure to obtain accurate results every time. Maptek, a provider of innovative software, hardware and services for global mining announced launch of its latest I-Site point cloud processing tools. This is custom-built for addressing everyday needs of mine surveyors for fast, accurate volumes, conformance reporting, geotechnical analysis, and CAD design.

I-Site Studio software provides an array of sophisticated tools and enhancements featuring user-friendly preferences in the new CAD design tools for snapping to angles and points. These CAD tools allow users to create CAD design outlines directly from 3D point cloud data. Auto-registration and alignment of scans, complex surface modelling, and waviness analysis for geotechnical modelling are some other in-demand additions.

The release enhances the geotechnical options of the software with powerful analysis tools for creating solids from discontinuities to determine wedge shape, size and volume. Mine planning and operational decisions are affected by the availability of accurate information. Stereonet improvements comprise of new tools, preferences, and workflows with a direct link between interactive stereonet and 3D views.

Another essential feature is the addition of a new 3D complex modelling tool for producing 3D surface that honours the original point cloud data, conforming around walls, curves, and tunnels. Defaults for failure types have been added as well and failure zones are auto-shaded to highlight areas of potential failure on stereonet. Volume reporting and Design conformance reporting are some other tools featured as a part of the software.
